We have a special guest joining us this month! Ben Ramsey, international speaker, organizer of Nashville PHP, PHP expert, and all around nice guy will be our presenter. Ben will be presenting on REST, and often misunderstood but vitally important web technology.
Ben Ramsey - Grokking REST
REST has become a hip buzzword of Web 2.0. But what makes an application RESTful? In this talk, Ben Ramsey reintroduces REST, uncovering each constraint that forms REST's principles. Ramsey explains how REST is a style for network-based software applications, emphasizing scalability and efficiency through separation of concerns and taking advantage of the Web as a platform for rich applications.
Also new this month, Memphis PHP will begin utilizing the community feedback tool joind.in.
Joind.in is a great tool for event organizers to list presentations given at their events. Joind.in users can rate the presentations they attend, providing a 1-5 "thumbs up" rating and comments for the presenter. Feedback on joind.in is important for presenters, allowing them to update their talks and presentation styles based on what the community has to say. Joind.in is also an important part of a presenter's resume. Conference organizers will review a speaker's page on joind.in when making decisions regarding who will present that year.
Visit Memphis PHP's November joind.in page and sign up now so you can be ready to rate Ben's presentation Thursday night!
As always, if you have any questions about this month's meetup, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
